Integrating the Arduino IDE with the ESP32 board

So you have your new ESP32 board and now you want to use it. So let’s get started. Download the Arduino IDE from:

Power on the ESP32 by utilizing a Micro USB to USB cable into your computer.

The board that I am using as part of this article is the MELIFE ESP32 which can be found in the image below. The board is very cheap for two at $15 and it comes with a WIFI chip!

Setting up the IDE

Now we need to set up the Arduino IDE to utilize the ESP32 board. Open up the Arduino IDE.

  1. Go to File -> Preferences; Then add the following URL to “Additional Board Manager URL…
